Interlinked fire alarms
From the 1st of February 2022 it became law in Scotland that every home must have interlinked fire alarms. This means that if one fire alarm goes off they will all sound and you will hear it anywhere in your home. Most homes will need to be fitted with a smoke alarm in the living room, a smoke alarm in every hall and landing and then also one heat detector in the kitchen. If you have a carbon-fuelled appliance – like a boiler, fire, heater or flue – in any room, you must also have a carbon monoxide detector in that room, but this does not need to be linked to the fire alarms.
